This transformational yoga workshop will cover the incredible reclining guided meditation technique of awakened sleep. Yoga Nidra works on healing all the layers of the body/mind/heart complex. It also provides a bridge to pure consciousness. Michele will share a number of different yoga nidra practices and discuss the practice of Sankalpa, working with the power of high spiritually guided intentions.
Yoga Nidra helps in regulation of hormones, stabilization of glucose levels, and alleviation of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Sounds like big talk, especially for a practice that involves nothing but lying on your back for half an hour. But evidence is mounting in a big way. In todays world where there’s so much static noise constantly coming in, we have forgotten the art of quietening down and letting the mind rest.

This Transformational Yoga Intensive Training will cover the incredible meditative yoga science of Yoga Nidra, the awakening practice of enlightened sleep. Yoga Nidra is a practice that works on profoundly healing all the layers of the body/mind/heart complex. It also provides a bridge to pure consciousness. This training will provide teachers of yoga and meditation, as well as students and seekers on the path to freedom, enough information to develop a home practice of Yoga Nidra and begin sharing the practice with others. This is part 1 (level 1) of a 3 part Nidra course. But it will stand alone as a deeply informative synthesis of the yoga nidra path.
Michele will share a number of different yoga nidra practices daily, work intimately with the practice of Sankalpa (power of high spiritually guided intentions), study the science behind Yoga Nidra, both neuroscience and yoga science, of how this practice affects our brains, bodies, and all the layers (koshas) of our being.
Yoga Nidra helps in regulation of hormones, stabilization of glucose levels, and alleviation of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It creates a meditative state very quickly that is identified in brain wave analysis and can move people into the yoga state of Turya.. a state of bliss or samadhi that is one of the highest states of realization. At the very least it helps people to relax! In todays world where there’s so much static noise constantly coming in, we have forgotten the art of quietening down and letting the mind rest. And for so many people that are unable to easily formulate a sitting practice, this lying down meditation becomes a doorway into meditative form that all can enter.
Michele’s yoga nidra practices are unique to others and have quickly become acclaimed as deeply transformational. She works with traditional practices from the Himalayan masters, as well as the science behind Richard Miller’s work, and also uniquely brings in the Tibetan sleep yoga practices learned from her Vajrayana studies and practice.
For those 200 hr teachers interested in credit towards a 500 hr. program, completion of this course will give credit towards the 2020 program Michele will be teaching with Buddhist scholar Robert A. Thurman. A Yoga Alliance 300 hr. Course divided into 40hr-100 hr Intensives beginning in June 2020 will be held in various locations to choose from.. New York, Hawaii, and Portland. Applications for the 300 hr. course will be available September 1st, 2019.

Come experience this remarkable practice of lying down guided meditation that brings total relaxation, health and well being, and can access the clear light realm of pure consciousness, or Turiya. After a brief intro on the neuroscience behind this practice and the science of yoga tantra & Koshas, we will practice enlightened sleep yoga.
“The Power of Sankalpa", How Intentions Work to Manifest; Thought Becomes Form. The practice of yoga nidra is one of the most powerful ways to positively access and shape the unconscious. In this session we will work on some meditation exercises around our individual dharma and what we most desire in life. Using these insights, we can begin using sankalpa within the nidra practice. This session will include meditation practices for greater self awareness, light movement to free joints and wake up subtle body energy, and a sankalpa based powerful yoga nidra practice.
“The Koshas", Healing and Empowering the Physical, Energetic, and Mental layers of the body. Yoga science utilizes a 5 layer body framework in order to conceptualize ourselves, the 5 Koshas, or sheaths of the body. This Nidra will focus on the first 3 layers Annamaya (physical sheath), Pranamaya (energetic sheath), Manomaya (mental sheath). The Nidra practice will work with breath awareness, and utilize pairs of opposite sensations and thoughts to access and bring healing within these layers.
“The Koshas”, waking up the Wisdom and Bliss layers of the body. This session will focus on yoga, meditaiton, and nidra practices to access and empower the last 2 layers of the body, Vijnamaya Kosha (Wisdom/ intuition body), & Anandamaya Kosha (Bliss Body). This Nidra will work with rotation of consciousness throughout the body, and utilize Shavayatra (61 points) to move into enlightened sleep, awakened being.
Kalachakra Study & Practice Intensive

Join us for a very special retreat on the Kalachakra tantra with Robert Thurman. Considered to be some of the most important esoteric tantric teachings and initiations transmitted by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. It teaches the practice of working with the most subtle energies within one's mind and body on the path to enlightenment through famously complex deity yoga, as depicted here, in which practitioners with a basic understanding of emptiness learn to dissolve their ordinary sense of self and recreate themselves in the ideal form of the kalachakra deity pair in union who represent omniscient Buddhahood the union of great bliss and wisdom perceiving emptiness. Since Kalachakra is created in time, and everything manifest is under the influence of time, Kalachakra Buddha is experiential knowledge of all manifest reality. Vishvamata, his spiritual consort and compliment is aware of all that is timeless, not time-bound or out of the realm of time. In yab-yum union, they are temporality and a temporality conjoined, and represent the full glory of the ultimate nature of reality, compassionately abiding in a vast multidimensional mandala rich with symbolic meaning. The retreat will be held at Menla Mountain in the Catskills in upstate New York, a perfect place to practice deeply and awaken, relax, and rejuvenate. There are many hiking trails and lots of wildlife and delicious vegetarian meals and a world class spa.
Michele will be teaching daily yoga asana classes at this event and evening yoga nidras.
Mastering the Basics of Ashtanga Vinyasa

A slowed down, mindful, and deep inquiry into the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series with Michele Loew & supporting Yoga Space staff.
We will meet for 3 Thursday evenings to study the Primary series of Ashtanga so that each posture is carefully examined. Props and modifications will be utilized to support all students. Come learn the series as a way to deepen your yoga practice in general, as principles can by applied to other types of asana. As you memorize the series and set a foundation for Mysore self-practice, a regular home practice becomes your gift to yourself. Ashtanga Vinyasa is one of the most potent practices of cleansing and strengthening the physical body while awakening the subtle body and removing the obstacles to abiding in our highest selves.
This workshop will prepare the student to go into our led primary series classes safely and give encouragement to practicing in our Mysore guided self practice room each morning.
