About The Program

Our program is rooted in the lineage of Krishnamacharya, blending the Vinyasa flow, internal form, and intelligent progression found in the Ashtanga system, the precise alignment instructions and supported poses of the Iyengar system, and the modifications to the individual that Desikachar emphasized.

We Will Focus On


The Theory & Practice of Yoga
intensive asana, philosophy, pranayama and meditation study

Therapeutic Applications
learn to teach alignment based yoga as you gain a strong understanding of anatomy & physiology as applied to yoga asana.

Art of Teaching
gain the confidence and tools to be an effective teacher using voice, body language, gentle assists, & the art of sequencing, as you practice teaching.

Fridays from 6pm - 8pm PT
Saturdays from 11am - 1pm, 2pm - 5:30pm PT

Surya Namaskar; Forward Bends; Yoga Sutras; Principles of Teaching.

Weekend 3: October 18, 19, 20
Hip Openers; Bhagavad Gita Philosophy; Teaching Practicum.

Weekend 4: November 1, 2, 3
Twisting poses; Bhagavad Gita; Teaching Practicum

Weekend 5: November 22, 23, 24
Back bending with ease, principles and assists; Teaching Practicum; Bhagavad Gita

Weekend 6: December 6, 7, 8
Art of sequencing a flow-based class; Beginning Inversions; Sarvangasana and Sirsasana cycles; Restorative Yoga; Bhagavad Gita, Teaching Practicum.

Weekend 7: January 10, 11, 12
Handstands, Arm balances, shoulder and wrist anatomy, Teaching Practicum, Meditation.

Weekend 8: February 14, 15, 16
Closing Weekend, Pranayama, Yin, Restorative Yoga, Subtle Body, taking seat of teacher, business of yoga

Your Teachers

Michele Loew is the owner of The Yoga Space and is an international yoga teacher & practitioner of Hatha & Tibetan Yogas.

She is also the founding director of the Vajra Yoga School of Comparative Buddhist & Indic Yogic studies she co-teaches with Professor Robert A.F. Thurman for Tibet House US.

She has taught, practiced, & studied avidly since 1998, and is known for her ability to see each student and address their individual needs both therapeutically and energetically. She is a master at hands on assists, alignment, and greatly enjoys teaching spirituality and philosophy that provides a path to happiness for all.

Michele teaches regular classes and 200 & 500 YA trainings in Yoga & Yoga Nidra in Portland & New York, as well as retreats and workshops internationally. 

Ian LeMasters has curated our online Anatomy course and will not be in-person for this year’s course as he embarks on his Medical school studies. But we are all gifted his brilliant legacy of anatomy instruction that Michele will apply to our studies. Interactive quizzes and videos will support us on the path.

Ian discovered the practice of Yoga in 2011 and taught for the Yoga Space for 10 years. He is an honored yogi emeritus beloved on the yoga space staff.
