Bhutan Yoga Retreat

Kingdom of Bhutan - April 21-30, 2026
With Michele Loew

Join Michele in the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan.

This is a sacred pilgrimage to practice yoga, meditation, and take refuge in the Himalayan land of Vajrayana Buddhism.

This intimate gathering of dedicated students of yoga and those interested in the Buddha’s teachings is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a rich sanctuary dedicated to awakening. During this retreat, we will visit the practice caves of some of the great yogis, the Maha siddhas, and receive guidance from local Bhutanese yogis and yoginis. We will have audience with Lamas and open ourselves to receiving teachings and empowerments as they bless our path. This retreat also includes daily yoga practice with Michele

This trip can only accommodate a maximum of 16 students.

General Itinerary

Exploring Paro

A beautiful part of our trip will be spent in Paro at the 5 star intimate Bhutanese hotel, The Como Uma.

While in Paro, will hike to Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang) followed by a visit to the female great yogini and enlightened master Yeshé Tsogyal to meditate in her ‘Lion Cave’ (Senge Phug). We will visit many local sacred sites, practice yoga, meditation, and absorb ourselves in this spiritual center.

After spending time in nature, hiking, and practicing, we will eat delicious meals, and soak in Bhutanese Hot Stone baths.

Punakha

Our group will take over the intimate incredible sister 5 star Como Uma hotel in Punakha as the only guests for 2 nights. One highlight of this visit will be a pilgrimage to Goen Tshephu Ney, Bhutan’s Sacred Cave of Spiritual Wonders where Guru Rinpoche practiced. We will meditate in the Tara Cave as well as the Dakini’s meditation Cave. In this sacred cave, Guru Rinpoche was able to see the full form of Buddha Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life.

Thimphu

At the start of our trip we will visit Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan to spend 2 nights acclimating, setting our pilgrimage intention, receiving blessings from Lamas, enjoying culture in the city, and beautiful opportunities to spend time in sacred sites. Michele will lead yoga sessions, and we will have time to enjoy the trails at our nature hotel, Zhiwaling Ascent.
